Once Upon a Cake and a Cavity….

Picture little me – circa 2008, a hopeful dreamer much like yourself; I took a major leap of faith! Leaving my cushy job in the Big Apple to chase my dream of becoming a cake artist in the Midwest. No savings, no income, and absolutely no health or dental insurance – just me, my cake dreams, and the kindness of those who welcomed me in. Sounds like a Hallmark movie in the making, doesn't it?

Now, I'm sure you're thinking, "That's cute, but what does this have to do with toothpaste?"

Okay so boom – there I am a broke but determined, sugar-loving 25-year-old, attempting to turn cake dreams into reality in Detroit comes up against the ultimate plot twist – the moment I discovered I was dealing with a cavity. Shocking, right?

But with my bank account doing the limbo and no health insurance to be found, a dentist was a definite no-go. Time to get creative! I was an artist after all, isn’t that what artists do…..get creative?

So, down the rabbit hole of Google I went…..

researching like my life(and sanity) depended on it. I discovered an intriguing bit of information involving a myriad of uses for natural oils like Spearmint, Almond, and Coconut, to create health and beauty products. Despite my initial skepticism, the persistent tooth pain and even more persistent empty wallet, led me to give it a try. Much to my surprise, it proved to be an effective solution, sparking a significant shift in my perspectives.

And just like that; this transformative experience marked a departure from my reliance on nasty chemical filled conventional toothpaste to a more informed and empowered consumer, embarking on a purposeful mission for personal well-being and a much brighter, more confident, smile.

This Eventually Led To The Creation Of Coco & Coal…..

For the next 8 years, I dabbled in essential oils for my teeth and gums, crafting my own toothpaste and breath spray, formulas. Then, in 2018, a friend, randomly, asked me how I get my teeth so white and I thought, "Why not share this incredible discovery with everyone?"

I decided to put a call out to my mini IG following of 400 personal contacts and 8000$ worth of order requests later, Coco & Coal was born.

This is more than just an oral care brand; it's my journey – a tale of determination and empowerment innovated from moments of desperation and confusion. I genuinely hope our products bring you joy and contribute to your path of finding confidence and natural solutions to everyday problems, embracing why and how your body was created to function! All while greeting the day with your gorgeous white smile and the confidence to go with! 🌿
